Silas Baxter Neal

silas

Thrasher posted Silas Baxter Neal’s part from their video, Rocket Science. Silas rules, I’m so glad he won SOTY. After you watch that flick on Thrasher check out the introduction video on the Adidas page. Everything about it is awesome.

Quiksilver Roam #2

quiksilver_alex_olson

Psyched. Quiksilver has it’s newest issue of Roam up on the web complete with rad photos and video thrown in. I’m a big fan of stuff like this on the internet. Obviously, print would be cooler, but this is engaging and interesting without being too tech. Head over there to check it out and then go buy a pair of these.

Santa Clarita Extreme Fest 2K9

skatepark-03_sm

Pinzon and I made our way out L.A. to hit the new Santa Clarita skatepark yesterday afternoon. I knew it was going to be crowded, but I could never have imagined how crowded it actually was. It had every type of skatepark inhabitant times a million, kids, gnar dawgs, VIP skateboarders, dads on BMX cruisers doing power wheelies with work boots on, scooterers (sp?), and the token kid who was practicing for Wallenberg even though people were sitting on the bleachers and the landing was packed with kids.

My words of advice? Don’t go for 6 months, or if you do go at 8am on the weekends. It’s unbelievable there’s no question, but if you’re like me you’ll be frustrated that you can’t get a run and just eat Airheads and lay on the grass. Check out their cool video with awesome warp effects below.

Eddie and Marco Came by The Office

shreddie1

Eddie Cleveland and Marco Svizzero came by the office at Vimby the other day. I asked them a few questions about their new projects and did a good job of not looking at the camera. Check it out below. That photo was clearly stolen from the Goods BMX site. Thanks! I can’t wait to see Marco’s new video, shit is going to be sickkkk.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

spicoli

I know it’s on everyone’s list for favorite movies and it’s nothing new, but Fast Times is one of the best Teen Movies. What could come close? I know a million other awesome movies but Spicoli is the best anti-hero ever. Sweet van, sweet shoes, and a sweet attitude. I used to watch this flick with my homie Matt Matteson every weekend in high school. Matt’s big pimpin’ now though, but he’s still the man, just like Jeff Spicoli! Watch my favorite part below. “Where’d you get that jacket!?”

Transworld Says ‘Eff It!’

The normally watchful censors over at Transworld Skateboarding magazine missed a doozy on the cover of their April 2009 issue. Check it out after the jump.

Appendicitis Is Gnar

For an organ considered a vestigial structure, your appendix sure is gnar. According to WebMD.com:

Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a 3 1/2-inch-long tube of tissue that extends from the large intestine. No one is absolutely certain what the function of the appendix is… Appendicitis is a medical emergency that requires prompt surgery to remove the appendix. Left untreated, an inflamed appendix will eventually burst, or perforate, spilling infectious materials into the abdominal cavity. This can lead to peritonitis, a serious inflammation of the abdominal cavity’s lining (the peritoneum) that can be fatal unless it is treated quickly with strong antibiotics.

Heinous. Anyway, I had my appendix out on Sunday night. I’m home now chilling, but I cant skate for 6 weeks. Luckily, I have a new camera to mess around with.

Mark Choquette Catch-Up

choquette1edit72

I don’t know about you but when I was growing up riding bikes and skateboards, I was always psyched on the older local guys. Seeing someone shred in person on a regular basis was so much more influential than whatever was going on in the magazines or videos. It just seemed and was more real. Mark Choquette, along with guys like Vic Bettencourt, Mike Rotundo, John Maul, Pat Connors, and Don Houle, was always on one of those guys. Going to Skater’s Island in Middleton, RI was always a good time and I would be lying if seeing Mark ride the snake run at the Island didn’t have a huge influence on how I ride my bike today. For about a week now I’ve been going back and forth through email with Mark about riding bikes and boards, playing music, and how to really get a photo in the magazines. Check out what Mark has to say and to see Mark ride check out videos like S&M’s Please Kill Me, Animal’s Can I Eat?, and Base Brooklyn’s Neighborhood Superheroes.

*The photo above is by Chris Dempsey. It’s crazy how similar it is to the Transworld Cover. Thanks Chris!
