Mike Michaud is a civil engineer by trade, and in his free time he’s always out riding bikes or motorcycles, shooting photos, fishing, hiking, camping, digging, just pretty much doing stuff. I love that. He’s one of my all time favorite people to ride with. Actually, pretty much doing whatever with Mike is really rad. His style on a bike is pure gold, too. I shot that photo of him above in western Massachusetts on a camping trip. Anyway, I asked him if he’d list his top five camping spots, and he was nice enough to send photos and text as well.

In no particular order:

Cobscook Bay, ME
Blueberrys, clams, and huge tides.

Katahdin Iron Works; Jo-Mary, ME
Desolate campsites (in some cases one site per lake), great fishing/hiking and solid example of good land management.

Tumbledown Mountain, ME
Easy enough hike to tote lots of beer and charcoal, clean swimming, and excellent views.

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, WY
Good short hikes, wicked big landscape and great place to cruise through.

Pacific Rim Provincial Park, BC
Holy sh*t scenes, wide open pacific and sand.
