Why does every dude that’s ever touched a bike, skateboard, or surfboard that’s like 20 years old want to grow a beard? Those things are hella swarty, itchy and they make you look 10 years older than you actually are. I don’t get it. Oh wait, yeah I do, cause I totally grew a huge beard when I was like 20.

This is one of the best things on the internet, hands down and I thought it was gone forever. Several years ago, Andrew posted a link on his old website to this issue of Dirt Magazine that was never published. I went back to it from time to time and then one day it was gone. Today I was reading the wikipedia page for Sassy Magazine and I found a link to Issue 8, saying it was web archived. This means it’s missing a few links (all of Mark Lewman’s) but you can still get the idea. I wasn’t old enough in the Dirt era, I just missed it, but rereading the copies I have and these unpublished pages seriously makes me wish I was. Try to reread Spike’s story without getting chills. Part of me wishes there was an outlet like this today, loosely based on boards and bikes but not overly pretentious, but I can’t help think that it would be contrived. Who knows. I’m going to finish packing my bag and maybe adding a couple pages to my novel.
Have you ever noticed that the tubing on white handlebars look weirdly bigger than other color handlebars? I was just watching this and was reminded. White sneakers look bigger on your foot as well. Does any nerd out there know the psychological reason for this? Actually, has anyone else noticed this before or am I crazy?

I was just going to make a statement about why YouTube is better than Vimeo but it was solely based on this weird Mission Statment Vimeo had up. Now I can’t find it or maybe it just doesn’t sound as obnoxious to me today. Either this video is pretty sick. Carlos shreds hard.

This is so weird. I really like the SPRFLS blog and I don’t think any company should be free from criticism but I really don’t understand what all the hub-bub is about. So T-1 made a slightly lighter frame by Solid. The welds look a little weird but it also looks like they are just following the line of the gusset. Having uncapped seatstays and not chainstays is a little weird too but it doesn’t even seem like the commenters are even worried about that stuff. It seems they are more worried about the fact T-1 used today’s modern technologies to make a quality frame. As Nate Johansen says “I do agree with Russ on wishing T-1 wouldn’t take this route, but it seems there is no other route to take these days.” From reading the post, I don’t think that’s what Russ wished but I still wonder what other route T-1 would take? Making it 5 pounds 7 ounces for the sake of making it 5 pounds 7 ounces? If that’s the case then that doesn’t seem very smart either, it just seems stubborn.
