Stolen Rigs

When I was a kid they used to throw them off the fire escape at Oakdale School or on the tracks. I guess they throw ‘em in Mother Brook now. Maybe they did back then too, who knows? Whatever. I’m still bummed about the loss of my Haro FST in ‘89.

If you want to see what skateboarding is supposed to look like, track down a copy of the tiltmode army’s bonus round and watch Nestor Judkins’ part. If you want to see my favorite thing on MTV in years, click here.

Memory Lane

Unless you are from Massachusetts and I handed you the sketchy home-burned DVD five years ago, you’ve probably never seen this. Five minutes of Boston-area BMX circa 2004 featuring me, Nick, Clint Reynolds, Snotty, Dan Burton, Brian Hunt, Mike Michaud, Brian Sheppard, Dave Boudreau, Doug Graham, Cliff Goddard, Kyle Amidon, Tony Long, Bernard Posner, Mike Ellis, and a young, pre-Johnny Thunders Albie Bennett.

Filmed in doo-doo vision.

Dude For Life

Friends of ITG, Jad Angell and Dusty Gaidos, recently took a trip out to Wellfleet, Ma. to see Dinosaur Jr. and skate the park out there. Eight hours in the hospital plus J. Mascis and a really fun skatepark equals solid blog situations. Check out Jad’s perspective on Slap and then peep the cross-blogging on Dusty’s site.

Cell Phone Snaps

Always seem to wind up being disappointing missed opportunities like the one of my brother running a rugged Cape Cod gap above. But every once and a while you reel in something amazing like the one below.

Weird Phenomenon 015

The world traveler. Take exhibit A, above, for example. Jack Sabback, professional skateboarder and part-time cultural anthropologist. Seriously, when did getting good at skateboarding qualify you for a job at National Geographic? Also, what’s going on with that get-up? Kid’s looking like the white man in foreign land circa 1970.

Due to current economic conditions, the world traveler pro has kinda taken a back seat to the cutty spot hunter pro. So if you live anywhere from St. Louis, Mo. to Scranton, Pa. consider your spots blown. At least for the time being. The economy should be back to normal in no time, and the hunt for the elusive ivory flatbar in Poland will resume.
