A comment under the Chris Hill-Scott post reminded me of my favorite rider and one of the baddest video sections ever. Go to the Animal site and check out some Edwin DeLarosa photos as well as his video section from Animal All Day RIGHT HERE.

When I first met Lino Gonzalez, he was probably about 16 or 17. Every so often, my brother and I would drive out to this grimy little indoor park in his hometown, Southbridge, Massachusetts. There were a bunch of good riders out there but Lino always stood out to me. As a rider, he was completely original and dialed, ignoring the trends of the day and truly doing his own thing. As a person, he was kind, funny, and really easygoing. Over the years, Lino continued to progress always doing his own thing. But everyone knows that. He’s still the same as ever, just a mellow, modest dude having fun on his bike. I recently caught up with Lino to find out what he’s been up to lately.

I know most people will probably argue with me on this one but c’mon, look at that set-up at the Brooklyn Banks (It’s a private Vimeo video?). Is that necessary? I know Nike is trying to market this to the masses but they could do it for a hell of a lot cheaper. They could have just made this ad or this ad and appealed to kids just as much. I guess part of the reason why it seems like such a waste, is the fact that it was done at the Brooklyn Banks. A spot so classic and legendary that you could film/shoot the ad with a point and shoot digital camera and it would still be just as good. I also realize that not all of the commercial/photoshoot was at the banks but I’m sure a fair amount of it will be in the ads.
In the end I know it really doesn’t matter but I can’t help think that the ad below would be a lot better than the Nike ad.

My neighbor was listening to “Stan” earlier and it reminded me of Scotty Eaton’s part in the new DQYDJ. Doesn’t he ride to Eminem? I forget but either way I was always psyched on that kid. Andrew had an awesome photo on his old site, Giraffe Brothers, of him backwards sliding a rail in Jamaica Plain. It was awesome. Either way here’s the mix section from Animal’s Can I Eat? below. Scotty has some awesome clips in the end of that.

It’s about to be the weekend and while we won’t leave you completely hanging until Monday, let’s face it the posting isn’t going to be as frequent. I get sucked into watching old videos on youtube all the time so I made a list of videos and parts I’ve been watching. Check them out below.

I think it’s funny when people say Steven Hamilton has fallen off. I think he just doesn’t care, but you’re guess is as good as mine. Check out the new Animal ad below and tell me if he fell off. Seen on Animal.
