I guess this a bike check from Lil D. While he does talk about his bike a bit he also shreds Belvedere and Garvanzo Skateparks which is obviously more important than what part he’s running. The smith to hard 180 up to half cab in on that sub was awesome.
On the subject of Lil D, I wish his bigger counterpart “D” was still around. Not that I’m some big guy in the LA BMX scene but as recently as this spring I remember him shredding so hard and then seemingly vanishing off the face of Los Angeles. Does anyone know where he went?
Take away the after hours partying that’s usually only funny to the people who were on the trip and this is awesome, hell, even with the weird after hours party footage this is awesome. Lots of good dudes, shredding around Connecticut on a local roadtrip. I knew Groton was awesome but when did all of these other awesome parks pop up in Connecticut?
Mt. Baldy in photographs. I wanted to hit that place but it looks like I’ll have to wait until later on in the fall because it’s probably on fire and or 110 degrees. All of the photographs link back to the owners and if anyone sees this and doesn’t want the photo on there, you know where the email is.
While the park does have everything, from this video you would think the only thing worth going for is the pyramid. Still cool though, I just would have liked to have seen some E-Man footage. Also, what you don’t really see is how crowded that place get sometimes. It seemed for awhile it was pretty mellow but as of recent it’s been pretty hectic. Unless of course there is a full blown boxing match in one of the bowls, then you might get a chance to ride when everyone is captivated by the spectacle.
I’ve only been once but seriously, how awesome is this place? From Seylynn to this place, Vancouver seems to have the old retro concrete parks thing all figured out. I think I need to make a trip up there sooner than later. Photo seen on Nick Sherman’s flickr. There’s a video below that features 18 seconds of Trujillo skating there. obviously, it’s well worth it.
Dudes that skate for Independent slay this place in the video below. Before you watch it though, check out that topographical bliss. It looks like the moon over there on the Cayman Islands. For added extremeness, there is a wave machine. I’ve never ripped a wave machine but it’s gotta be pretty sweet.
Quikcrete has been a godsend for skateboarders and BMXers. Throw the jersey barrier, a piece of urban detritus, into the mix and you’ve got yourself a recipe for not only a decent spot but a good time. It’s crazy to think how some spots, like the one in the opening shot of the above video, have been completely transformed with a little concrete and some ingenuity. It might be a good look to build yourself a summertime spot this weekend, what else are you up to?
Nick Dompierre on the wednesday playlist and this video too. It’s alright, it’s good. While you’re at it, check out this interview I did with Ryan Walker about the DIY park in the video here. Seen on Boston RiffRaff.
This place looked insane. I can’t believe those moguls. I seem to remember a photo by Shad Johnson in Dig a few years back about a place like this in Idaho somewhere. I’m hoping I can get a little insight from someone who experienced it firsthand this week, we’ll see. In the meantime, check out some more photos of this place below and the website with all the history here.
