The Tony Hawk Show x Street Contest x Bastien Salabanzi’s Head

The Tony Hawk Show at the Grand Palais in Paris, France also had an invite only street contest over the weekend. The finals jam consisted of Eero Antilla, Chris Pfanner, Kris Vile, Julien Bechet, Dom Dietrich, Alex Olson and Bastien Salabanzi. Bastien crushed the course and took home the 6000 Euro first place.

There is no question that Bastien Salabanzi is a talented skateboarder, I doubt there is more than a handful of people on the planet that could land a cab double flip down 12 stairs, but I’m surprised he hasn’t come up with his own version of an end-zone dance at this point to celebrate the landing of his tricks. Mako Urabe’s point to the sky move looks downright tame compared to this madness.

Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins First Female McTwist

via KNOW SKATEBOARDING

Another NBD bites the dust. Quiksilver and Tony Hawk put on the insane French concert version of Boom Boom Huck Jam called the Tony Hawk Show at the Grand Palais in Paris this weekend. He’s progressed to living in an alternate reality at this point. No hate, just feeling a little bewildered. On the upside, Tony put down another 900º and Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins became the first woman, female, girl to land a McTwist. Yes, a McTwist, not a 540º. It was legit as shit too, nice work Lyn-Z! Peep the video below.

I finally got the photo issue of Ride UK the other day and I think this was one of my favorite photos in the magazine. I stared at it the longest, that’s for sure. It’s by Chris Hill-Scott and you can check out this site that’s filled with even more photos here.

Marseille

Marseille came up the other night when I was talking with a friend. I kind of forgot about that place. I don’t know how that’s possible but I did. I need to go there. Place looks undeniably good. Speaking of skateparks, I found some photos of the Shanghai Skatepark. I actually forgot about that place. Check out this photo I found below. I had to doctor it up a little to get my point across.

Weird French Halfpipe?

frenchquarterAnyone remember this thing? It was a halfpipe/capsule and one side was just a quarterpipe. I can’t find a proper photo of it online anywhere, although I could have sworn it was in an Alistair Whitton ad. Little Devil maybe? Either way, when the internet was down today, I was flipping through the February 2009 issue of Transworld and the cliche skate team rips some spots in France. There are a couple sick photos in it. I felt weird scanning it, but maybe I will. I could care less about Transworld and a 3 month old issue, right? There’s a trailer for Cliche’s video below but the only clip of the halfpipe is someone skating up to it.

This post on Boxed Wine Fiasco reminded of the spot too. It’s not safe for work, so just wait til you’re home. Check it here. If anyone has any info, photos, whatever and wants to write something about it, it would be rad. We can even do it anonymously if the place is a bust. Just email me at nick@vimby.com
