Lino sent over the link for this video him and the 90east crew put together this summer. Like most things 90east related it’s awesome. Carlos is too good and the clip he does at the end of this video I have makes my mind melt. I do have to say I am feeling a little nostalgic right now. The last clip of that double kink rail reminds me of the first time any of my friends had ever done a handrail. It was a hot summer night and about 10 kids were all gathered around one of the only rails in my town while my good friend Justin ripped it first try. Riding home that night was awesome.
And in case you missed it, Andrew did an interview with Lino a few months ago, check it out here.

I love when people break the mold or just do something you wouldn’t expect them to do. Whether it’s riding to a song, their occupation, or just being into a certain band, it’s always refreshing when people surprise you. Below are two BMX video parts that definitely surprised with song choices me but seriously made me psyched. Coincidentally they are both from the Animal team/crew and are legitimately awesome.

I was just going to make a statement about why YouTube is better than Vimeo but it was solely based on this weird Mission Statment Vimeo had up. Now I can’t find it or maybe it just doesn’t sound as obnoxious to me today. Either this video is pretty sick. Carlos shreds hard.
Lino Gonzalez and 90east are throwing a jam at the legendary Devotion Banks in the outskirts of Boston. Knowing the way these dudes carry themselves, I’m sure it will be a good time. So if you’re on the East Coast at all, do yourself a favor and go have some fun. I’ll remind you about it again next week to really hammer it in. This Dig Cover was shot at the Devotion Banks and it happens to be one of my favorite magazine covers.

Making a dvd (or eff it, a VHS) with your friends is one of the funnest things you can do. Don’t worry about posting it online and submitting it to be judged by the savages that comment on The Come Up (like I did way back in 2006 when TCU was still a blogspot). Skip that part, and use the time you save by not uploading it to Vimeo to hang out with your friends, drink beers, and watch everyone cruise on your TV.

When I first met Lino Gonzalez, he was probably about 16 or 17. Every so often, my brother and I would drive out to this grimy little indoor park in his hometown, Southbridge, Massachusetts. There were a bunch of good riders out there but Lino always stood out to me. As a rider, he was completely original and dialed, ignoring the trends of the day and truly doing his own thing. As a person, he was kind, funny, and really easygoing. Over the years, Lino continued to progress always doing his own thing. But everyone knows that. He’s still the same as ever, just a mellow, modest dude having fun on his bike. I recently caught up with Lino to find out what he’s been up to lately.
