2009 Tampa Am Wrap Up

Rob Meronek has been posting a steady flow of 2009 Tampa Am Contest coverage, miscellaneous footage and photos at the Skatepark of Tampa website. P-Stone and Josh Stewart both did a great job of capturing the madness. Study up, between this and the Fuel TV HD Webcast it’s almost like you were there.

Cacka Training Ground

The next round of good ass skaters should be coming out of North Carolina in about 5 years judging by the new skatepark in Durham. Looks like Bob and Sinclair were on hand to pass the torch. Where you at Kenny? Burnout has coverage of the Toy Machine demo at Thrasher Magazine.

Gary, Indiana

Sinners and Saints in the outskirts of Chicago. I guess the Grindline park is actually in Whiting, Indiana. If you’re ever in the area go for a swim at Indiana Dunes State Park, not the National Park though. They charge you a lot more to basically be on the same beach. It’s a pretty good time and I didn’t have the best experience when I was in Chicago so going for a swim definitely made up for it.

1985

may19851

Nostalgia, for the most part, is pretty absurd. It’s easy to forget the kooky things and just look at what was good at certain times. This happens in everything from music to skateboarding to techniques in photography. Fondly remembering what once was is fine but completely living in the past doesn’t seem to be a healthy option. With that said, Thrasher has recently posted their whole 1985 collection. The above cover is from May of 1985, the year I was born. Inside is a cool article on a Texas pipe mission that could have just as easily happened yesterday.

Forgive Me

If you’ve seen this before. I must have missed it somewhere. I remember the Thrasher article on that park trip but not any video. Either way, check it out, there is some crazy stuff in there. Tony T is so awesome. That manual at Marseilles is unreal.

Marissa Del Santo Is Gnarly

She gets served so many times and gets right back up. The time where she snapped her tail looked like she had it!
